Aligners Provide Removable Braces

prairie village alignersIf you have misalignment, whether due to issues in childhood or tooth loss/injury later in life, we can help with custom aligners. With our orthodontic clear aligners, we can provide nearly invisible and removable aligners. In today’s blog, your Prairie Village, KS, dentist talks about providing removable braces for teens and adults.

Treating Your Misaligned Teeth

Don’t live with uneven smiles. Your misalignment could make you feel uncomfortable with your appearance, and could also impact bite function and even your overall oral health. For example, when you have poor alignment, you could have issues with particles of food becoming trapped between teeth, which causes embarrassment and also makes thorough brushing and flossing difficult, increasing the risk of cavities and even gum disease. The stress on your jaw from poor alignment could also lead to painful complications like TMJ disorder and even bruxism (chronic teeth grinding). You could also simply feel uncomfortable with your appearance which impacts your social life. But we are ready to help with orthodontic clear aligners!

Crafting Your Uneven Smile

The treatment process does not require metal brackets or wires at all. Instead, our team will use a series of clear and cozy plastic trays, each set in the series is custom-made for your smile. To begin, we will take images of your bite from multiple angles, and digital x-rays as well. We will provide these images and measurements to experts, who will use them in a lab setting to design and craft a series of these custom orthodontics from a BPA-free and clear plastic material. When your new trays are ready, you will receive a set and can start the treatment process.

Removable Braces

The treatment process means wearing a set of your orthodontic clear aligners for about 20 to 23 hours a day on average. Each set is worn for about two weeks. You then start wearing the next set in the series for the same amount of time and repeat the process as your smile is corrected, typically in as little as one year. The orthodontics are easy to clean and soak, and we will monitor your progress with visits to our office. You can remove these before you eat, so no need to alter your diet. Being removable also means a much easier time brushing and flossing, and that they can be taken out for special occasions, such as first dates, job interviews, or a graduation or other special events.
