When do you need to seek orthodontic care for your smile? If you have poor alignment, even if the issue appears minor, we hope you will contact our team for a diagnosis. We can examine your smile to assess the cause and severity of your poor alignment, allowing us to choose the best solution, including our custom and clear orthodontic aligners.
Remember, care for misalignment is crucial to lower your risk of issues like tooth decay and gum disease, and to help prevent TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding). You can enjoy better oral health, improved bite function, and of course, a more attractive appearance.
If we decide that clear aligners are the right choice for you, then our team will take steps to begin designing them. We will gather detailed digital images of your bite from multiple angles with an intraoral camera, which can obtain these images quickly and comfortably with a small camera at the end of a thin wand. We then combine these to create a digital impression, one far more accurate than a traditional physical one.
Experts in a dental lab will use the impressions we make to design your orthodontics from a BPA-free acrylic material. When they are ready, you will have a series of aligners containing multiple sets, and can begin the treatment process!
The treatment process itself is fairly simple. Each day, you will wear a set of aligners for about 20 to 23 hours, only removing them for meals, brushing and flossing, and special occasions. You then do this for about two weeks. After the two-week mark, you start wearing the next set in the series and continue the process as your smile is gently and gradually corrected. For some, optimal alignment is possible in a short time, usually about a year to 18 months, shorter than braces require. These are easy to clean and store, and they can travel with you too.
