Straightening Smiles Without Metal Braces

If you have uneven teeth, you may assume that metal braces are the only way to straighten them. For teens and adults, there could be serious anxiety about wearing metal braces. But! Dr. Robert M. Browne and our Prairie Village, KS, team can offer even smiles with our clear and comfortable clear aligners. An even smile with a nearly-invisible series of custom clear aligners is possible, and we can help!

The Need for Orthodontic Treatment

When do you need to see us for orthodontic treatment? If you have uneven teeth, even minor cases, then talk to our team. When you have crooked, crowded, or overlapping teeth, this can make thorough brushing and flossing difficult, and increase the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Misalignment also strains the jaw joints and leaves you more vulnerable to complications like TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding). You may also feel self-conscious about your appearance, and nervous in social situations. But we can help straighten your smile, and in a way that does not negatively impact your professional appearance!

Our Clear Aligner Process

Orthodontic clear aligners don’t use metal brackets or wires at all. Instead, we will take detailed images of your bite and these will be used by experts in a lab setting to design and craft your orthodontics. Each set in the series will be made from a BPA-free acrylic material that is clear in appearance. Since these are custom-made, they also fit comfortably and provide care with precision.

You will wear a set for about two weeks, usually between 20 and 23 hours a day. You then wear the next set for a similar amount of time and continue the process as your smile is treated, which could take as little as one year.

Benefits in Your Daily Life

Along with being clear in appearance, our orthodontic clear aligners also offer other benefits. They fit comfortably and limit discomfort during your treatment. They can also be taken out before you eat, so you no need to avoid certain foods or change your diet. Being removable also means you can take them out before you brush and floss, which helps prevent complications like tooth decay, stains, and gum disease.

If you have any questions about how we correct your uneven smile with orthodontic clear aligners, or if you are ready to schedule a visit to see if this is right for you, then reach out to our office today to learn more and get started.
