What risks does an uneven smile pose for your smile? When we have crooked, crowded, and overlapping teeth, this could mean trouble fully brushing and flossing, which in turn leads to tooth decay and gum disease. You could also have strain on your jaw joints, which increases the risk of painful diseases like TMD or bruxism (teeth grinding). You could also feel embarrassed about your appearance, impacting your social life in negative ways. But we can help, and we can do so without metal braces, instead using our clear and cozy plastic aligners!
How do we create your clear plastic aligners? To begin, we will use an intraoral camera to carefully and comfortably take multiple images of your bite from several angles, using these in a lab setting to design and craft a series of orthodontic trays. Made from a clear and BPA-free plastic material, these will fit comfortably and offer care with precision, so you can enjoy an even smile in as little as one year in some cases, half the time braces typically require.
When your new aligner sets are ready, you will start the treatment process. You will wear a set for about two weeks, 20 to 23 hours per day on average. You repeat the process for about a year. In the meantime, you can actually remove your clear orthodontics before you eat, so no need to change your diet or avoid items that would otherwise be stuck in metal braces. Being removable also means a much easier time brushing and flossing your teeth, and also that you have the ability to remove them for special occasions, such as first dates, graduation, or a job interview.
