Starting Treatment With Your Custom Aligners

Are you ready to finally treat your uneven smile? If so, then we can help you find out if you qualify for treatment with our custom and comfortable aligners. In today’s blog, your Prairie Village, KS, dentist talks about starting treatment with our orthodontic clear aligners.

Qualifying for Orthodontic Clear Aligners

Who qualifies for orthodontic treatment with our clear and comfortable plastic aligners? Our team will examine your smile to assess the cause and severity of your misalignment, so we can select the best treatment option for you. For some teens and adults, we can offer our cosmetic system in lieu of metal braces. We are happy to start treatment and help our patients enjoy an even smile. Not only is this a source of renewed confidence, but this can also help improve the overall oral health of your smile, and also improve bite function too, so the risk of complications is reduced significantly.

Starting the Treatment Process

To begin the process, our team will take detailed digital images of your smile from multiple angles. We will use a special digital camera set at the end of a thin wand, so we can capture images quickly and comfortably from multiple angles. We then use these to create a detailed 3D digital model of your smile, one far more accurate than physical impressions taken with a mold and gooey materials. Experts then use the images and measurements we have taken to design and craft a series of aligners custom-made for your smile in particular. You can then begin the treatment process!

Removable Orthodontics

You will wear a set of these custom and removable orthodontics every day for about 20 to 23 hours a day. Each set is worn for approximately two weeks, and then you then start wearing the next in the sequence and continue the process until obtaining an even smile, which for some could take as little as one year. These removable orthodontics can be taken out before you eat, so no need to adjust your diet or avoid certain foods. This removable ability also means a much easier time brushing and flossing, so you can care for your smile and lower the risk of issues like tooth decay, gum disease, and stained teeth.
